We traveled by train to the Machu Picchu Pueblo city at the bottom of the valley below Machu Picchu mountain. We stayed the night and the next morning hopped on a bus to the top of Machu Picchu parking lot. When we began our hike, our guides encouraged us to walk slowly, stay off our phones and take in the magical surroundings that were about to overwhelm us with wonder. When we arrived at the peak, we tuned in to all of our senses and felt peace and joy. Our time spent hiking around felt like we were almost in heaven, but we were in Peru and not in West Virginia. Grateful beyond belief.

This group of amazing yogi's, musicians, and just good human beings
were the best part of our trip to Peru.

Peruvians are very enthusiastic about honoring Mother's Day! And, the most amazing thing happened this evening. Kerry and I were walking around Pueblo City and happened on this Mother's Day festival. We decided to go in the stadium and listen to the live music. Without much hesitation, we ended up asking the women (with our hand movements) to join us for a circle dance and before long, there were many women (and Men) dancing with us! Worlds apart yet we were all connected.
We were ONE celebrating the Mothers around the world.

During our yoga retreat, we had a "Karma Yoga" day and visited a local school where we helped paint and clean up the grounds. We also go to dance with the kids and teachers. It was a memorable experience.

We spent time with a shaman who led us in a traditional ceremony.

We were essentially reading "let that shit go" at the very end of our retreat.

My awesome friend and co-lead on this great adventure, Kerry McKenzie.
